Malhamdale Green Communities Project

Malhamdale Green Communities Project

In 2010 Malhamdale was accepted into the Yorkshire Dales Green Communities Programme and a project team setup, Kirkby Malham School will take a lead role in this project and Nick Bradley will be the School’s Green Governor, other members of the group include Sandy Tod, John Varney, Adrian Pickles, Chris Wildman, Wendy Carr, Vicki & Mike Spence, Gary McHale, Chris & Mary Cribb.

This is great news. It provides an exciting opportunity to plan Malhamdale’s future as a sustainable thriving community, with help and backing of the Energy Savings Trust, the National Park Authority and Craven District and North Yorkshire councils.

The Green Communities programme has been developed to provide free advice and support to communities within the Yorkshire Dales LEADER area.

In conjunction with the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority and the Energy Saving Trust, a dedicated project coordinator will work alongside selected communities for up to two years to help them to understand their carbon footprint and develop a realistic action plan to reduce it.

If you would like to be involved or need energy saving advice please get in touch or come along to a meeting.
