Airton Barn at The Friends Meeting House
Airton Barn is a bunkhouse and social venue attached to the Friends Meeting House. Originally built as a stable block for attenders of Quaker Meetings it was adapted as a hostel in the 20th century and refurbished in 2012 as a smart and comfortable bunkbarn and multi-use venue.
The Barn has one dormitory of 6 bunks and may accommodate up to 12 additional people on floor mattresses and air-beds. There is an equipped kitchen and shower room both upstairs and on the ground floor.
The charge for overnight accommodation is £18 per person for a bed, less for floor mattresses (used when the dormitory is full). Bedlinen and towels can be hired at £5 per set, or guests may bring their own. Camping in the grounds is permitted for a limited number of nights per year, charged at £12.50 per tent. We also host events, ranging from family get-togethers to courses, retreats, business meetings and performances.

The Friends Meeting House is one of the oldest in active use. Constructed in the early 17th century as a centre for the ‘Seekers’ – a pre-Quaker religious group based in this area – the building was brought into Quaker use, enlarged and later bought by William and Alice Ellis, who built their own cottage opposite in 1695. It was restored in 2010 and continues as a Meeting House and centre for village events.
The Meeting House and its walled garden are open to the public throughout the year. Regular Quaker meetings are held on the 2nd & 4th Sundays of each month at 3pm, to which anyone is welcome.
